I expect that an owner of a SFP PMII 5-25X with P4F reticle knows what magnification his or her scope's reticle subtensions' are correct at. They are in possession of the scope and look through it.
However, you state that <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="color: #FF0000">"The subtensions are accurate at 12X NOT at 25X as the user manual states."</span></span> From an operational standpoint, this does not make sense. The reticles of SFP scopes' are <span style="font-style: italic">usually</span> calibrated at full magnification because, mirage and clarity nowithstanding, higher magnification provides a more detailed view of the target area, allowing more accurate "milling".
In order for the reticle to be easy-to-see regardless of the magnification setting (IMO the best thing about SFP), the reticle is calibrated to subtend accurately when the magnification is set at maximum. Obviously, this is 25X on a 5-25X scope. Therefore, in order for the reticle to be proportional to the target image, the scope must be adjusted to maximum (25X) magnification.
Your statement that the subtensions of your 5-25X SFP P4F are accurate at 12X instead of 25X also contradicts what people at S & B have to say. I called S & B USA this morning, and Mark Cromwell (President, S & B, Inc, USA) said that the subtensions in SFP PMII 5-25Xs' are accurate at maximum magnification (25X). This includes the SFP P4F.
Take a look at the two PMII 5-25X reticle diagrams below. The diagram on the top is a FFP P4L. The diagram on the bottom is a SFP P4L. <span style="font-style: italic">Both are calibrated and shown at 25X</span>, which is why the reticles are the same apparent size and the subtensions are identical. I hope this helps.
