I'm moving to Georgia, from Tennessee. I'm assuming the gun laws arent too different except I'm moving to hotlanta. Anything special in regards to hi cap mags?

That's the damn truth! It won't take long to figure out there's a lot of Atl that you don't have any business going to. Most of that city and its surroundings are best left to the natives.

I stay out of Atlanta. The last time I had business in Atlanta I had a court order to go there.

GA and TN gun laws are extremely similar, off the top of my head the only difference I can think of is that you can't carry in churches here, but you can in TN.
Working in downtown Atlanta is the reason I started carrying. As long as you stick to the nicer areas you should be fine, but you can go from one street to another and suddenly wind up in the middle of an area where you really really don't want to be. Also, as far as I can determine from traveling over quite a large part of the world, Atlanta's bum population is unique. They won't just ask you for money, they will follow you for blocks saying stuff like "man, I know you got money, dressed up all fancy like that, cmon gimme something now!" and they won't leave you alone even if you tell them to back off. They're extremely aggressive in my experience and they tend to congregate around shelters, so if you know a shelter is in the area and you're walking, try to avoid going near it. Walking from my car park to my building(2 blocks) for a year this was a daily occurrence.
If you can afford it, living outside the perimeter(I285) is safer and much more friendly. You'll have to deal with traffic, which is pretty horrific during rush hour, and the drivers are absolutely insane; but you'll have a much nicer neighborhood and might actually get to know the people who live near you.
If you are bound to live in Atlanta and you don't already have one, get a really nice, secure safe and make sure it's next to impossible to remove from your house or else you'll see all your guns get stolen as certain areas in Atlanta the houses have multiple burglaries per year; I've had quite a few friends who go to GA State who have had their stuff stolen four or five times now while they're in class.
Our ranges for LR shooting are creekside which is about 45min north of Atlanta, and one in Athens which is an hour and a bit to the east; those are the only two I know about that are close by.

yup, try to stay in the suburbs. atlanta as a city isnt terrible but get lost and you can end up in bankhead or east point. carry laws are lax in town. the usual no govt buildings. not sure what the final rule on churches and bars is.

Hell there are parts of ATL that before you enter the cops should stop you and ask if you have a firearm and if not give you one.

I worked in a really crappy part several yrs ago. A cop pulled me over one evening after leaving the office late. This was a little side st between MLK and Hollowell (west end). Conversation basically went, 'What are <span style="font-weight: bold">You</span> doing <span style="font-weight: bold">Here</span>'???
Some good came from it I guess. Atl was where I learned to keep plenty of room between me and the car ahead of me, keep the truck doors locked even when driving (where I grew up we didn't even lock the house), watch the mirrors and have an escape route planned in advance! I have hit the sidewalk and opposing lanes more than once when waiting on a light to turn.
Here’s a little tip on the bums: Right when they make eye contact, I hit them up for a dollar! They don’t know what to do then.
Usually a ‘WTF, (bunch of crap I can’t understand)’ and a few MF’er mixed in there to.
Here’s another on the parking lot bums: Have a few bucks in your pocket (not much, different pocket from your wallet) and when one of these pieces of crap asks (or ax’s) if you want him to ‘watch yo car’, say yes and give him a few dollars. Trust me on this one; it’s worth paying the bastard! If it craws on you too much to pay, get in your car and go park somewhere else.
