But IF he died from a medical condition, I can't fault the dogs too badly.
Dogs get hungry, dogs got to eat same as worms and buzzards.

On the plus side it seems like the local LE was trying to do the decent thing and leave out food and water for the dogs while the search was ongoing, so that's great to hear. I hate to see animals go hungry or thirsty.

Nothing in the story suggests the dogs killed him. It states he was a reclusive loner with multiple/serious health problems and a bunch of dogs enclosed inside a fence with him and no other food source. The supposition is that he died of natural causes and the dogs ate his remains to survive. Of course, there's no proof they DIDN'T kill him either, but given the circumstances it doesn't seem likely.
