I am doing my first build and I am going with a Razor HD for glass. The action (R700 short action) is set in an AICS 1.5 chassis. I have been looking at rings and really want to use the Vortex Razor rings since they are steel. They are listed at 1". I think with the AICS and the taller cheek piece the 1" might be too low for comfort even with the lowest setting for the cheek piece so I was wondering if some base makers make their bases taller than others. I never see the listed height or thicknesses of bases and figured if there is a base out there a couple of tenths taller it might work out for the better. Any help is appreciated.

I run a EGW HD rail and it measures .355".

Edit: Sorry for the bad information, just realized that the piece of the rail I measured was that thinner part that hangs over the barrel that I cut off.

Don't be hung up on steel. I don't know what they make their rings out of ("premium steel alloy" means exactly nothing), but I would not be surprised to find out it's weaker than 7075 aluminum and I know it's three times the weight. Get a setup that fits - that is what is important.

I agree with Damon, but if you want to experiment with different height bases the EGW's are taller than anything else I've seen.

I have an EGW 20 MOA base that's been damaged(not from normal use) that no longer has screws with it if you want it just to see if it will clear. Send me a PM with your address if you're interested, I'll send it to you for free.

Or I can just measure the height of it tomorrow vs my Badger Ordnance.

The height measurements would work. Badger is one of the rails I was considering in the first place. I don't have the scope yet so for the time being I am going by comments I have read about shooters with the Razor needing to raise the scope height due to the higher cheek piece. I won't mind using higher rings as I can always adjust up, but I can only go so far down and the vortex rings were very appealing to me but only available in 1" heights.
