Rifle Scopes scope & base lapping?

How many actually do this ? Does anyone just lap base & not rings?

It may be necessary with two piece bases, but with the level of manufacturing quality and precision of one piece bases, lapping really isn't required that often. If you have a receiver that is not true and is torquing the base, lapping can be a band aid but its not the solution.

Buy quality rings and a one-piece base and you will be fine. There may be a small chance you will need to bed the base but don't lap it.

^^^^^Buy decent product = don't have to do all the crap work to straighten them out. I have found that depending on the action...bases will sit off the receiver if front screw or back screws are tightened without putting the other set in. In that case, I would bed the base.

Make sure you use some good release agent. Ask me how I know....
