Hey guys, this isn't another one of those what ring height should I use questions. I've read up on all of those. However, one answer I couldn't find is what is the minimum clearance between scope bell and scope base? I am using an EGW 20 MOA base and Burris XTR low rings for a bushnell 10X mil/mil scope and I got about a 1/4" or so between barrel and scope bell which is fine. But after I set my eye relief I notice I probably only have between 1/16 - 1/8" between base and scope bell. I know the easy response would be to trim part of the base off but since it has been loc-tite'd for about a year I just wanted to throw the question out there. I realize that the barrel clearance allows for barrel movement to clear bell, but I would think the base wouldn't have that much play (even if it is aluminum) since the mounting holes are spread out so far and it only extends less than an inch forward of the last mounting hole. Any suggestions, opinions? Thanks in advance.
