Hello everyone, I am looking for advice on optics for a 700 5r 300win. So far I am looking at Vortex PST FFP 6-20 and Bushnell hdmr ffp G2 reticle. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Looking to keep it under $1200 ffp. Thanks!

After reading the reviews and different forums I have narrowed it down to the SWFA and Bushnell. Only thing is I live in Texas and after taxes the SWFA is pushing my limits and coming close to higher end glass like IOR or Nightforce (used).

Was about to pull the trigger on a swfa 5-20 and found a Bushnell hdmr NIB for $800 locally. It has the mil-dot reticle. Not exactly what I wanted but I don't think I can pass this deal up. he says his wife bought it for him at xmas for hunting and its to big. I think I can live with gen 1 mil dot for this price. What to you guys think?

$800 looks like a good deal. I see the HDMRs with the G2 reticle going for around $1K. If you don't mind the mildot reticle, it seems a good buy. Now mount that thing up.

For another couple hundred bucks I would go with the reticle I wanted. 800 bucks is a lot of money for a compromise - at the same time if you weren't really dead set on the G2 I'd say roll with it you could probably sell it for what youre buying it for.

That is what I thought. I picked up the scope today and sure enough $800 NIB. The rifle comes in Friday. If I can find a g2 for around $1000 I will sell the mildot. I have been looking for a g2 but have not had success either $1100 used or higher for new.
