Rifle Scopes Scope for 300 Whisper

I may have asked this before but now I actually have the $$ to spend.
I'm looking for a scope for a 300 Whisper/AR platform.
Must be illuminated.
1x-2x on the low end, 4x-8x on the high end.
Much prefer a 30mm tube.
Much prefer a ranging reticle - generic (223 and 308 caliber specific reticles are worthless on a Whisper.)
I want to avoid a "dot" or German #3 that will block a lot of the target.
Under $500
New or Used is OK.

Can somebody tell me about Falcon Menace. Are they Brit, Jap, Chinese...??

if you can pony up a little more or find a used SWFA SS 1-4, its a pretty good scope. i'm a big fan of it and it would fit the bill for 300 whisper ranges no prob.

Vortex makes one too but i dont have any experience w.it to comment.

I have the 1-4SS on my whisper, great setup, I highly recommend.

Other than that, I'd look at IOR2.5-10 or USO 1.8-10 - both of which cost allot more than $500.

Get something with target turrets, FFP, and lots of adjustment, that bullet goes down like a cheerleader on prom night.

Here is a link to the drops for a subsonic load with my Burris TAC30 1-4x24. I was able to get out to 155 yards with 208 A-max's using the reticle that was calibrated for 5.56. I'm still using it on my SBR, but now I run supersonic 110 V-max's only. I can get out to 350 using the reticle with supersonics. A 110 V-max with 2200 fps muzzle velocity drifts as much as you would think at 350. It's not pretty.

Did you use a program to figure that out or was it trial and error at the range?? Rancid was right when he so eloquently made the cheerleader comparison

. I will be using 220gr FMJ bullets. I'm sure they don't have as high of a BC as the AMAX, then again, at 150yds and 1000fps, I don't think BC plays a big part.

I like the Burris- this may make my decision easier.

I've been happy with it thus far. I used JBM ballistics to get the drops then verified them at the range, they were right on. I got that reticle pic from the Burris website then used Pixen to edit in my drops. Printed it out and taped it to my scope cap. The BC shouldn't matter too much at such short ranges, but notice if you mis-judge the range by 10 yards you have missed your target. Definitely get out there and verify the drops before taking a shot at a critter.
