Looking for recommendations for a cheap air rifle scope for backyard plinking. I bought my son a Gamo air rifle that absolutely eats scopes for breakfast. I have gone through 3 Gamo branded scopes in a few months. In all instances the rifle makes the reticle do circus tricks - they end up every which way but straight. Good news is that my son shoots the heck out if, bad news is I can't keep it in service for him. A 4X or 3-9 is what I am looking for. Thanks

Spring powered air rifles are very hard on optics.
You could take a look at one of the Falcon Optics scopes.
A lot of airgunners use them but that may be the PCP guys.
You could also check Natchez Shooters for a Nikon on sale.
Might as well drop some money on a decent one by the time you buy 4 or 5 scopes you could have bought something better.

I just upgraded to a PCP from a springer and am looking for a better optic. I am using the cheap one that came on my springer but it keeps losing zero. Was thinking about the Vortex Crossfire II on Amazon for $129. I have 25, 50 & 75 yd targets set up in the back yard so 2x-7x should be fine. I shoot some after work (almost dark) so I'm concerned about the 32mm being enough in low light but don't want to drop a ton for pellet plinking in the backyard either. Not sure how it will hold up on a spring-fired rifle though??

Bought a couple of the Bushnell nitros from Doug to put on a few of my air rifles. They are pcps but glass is definitely decent for the price. Not sure how they would hold up on a Springer though.

May see if he still has any in stock.

I bought a Hawke from Doug this past spring — mounted on an Air arms pro elite spring gun

Scope has held together just fine although it has moved in the mounts once

This gun ate a luppy a few years ago, they fixed it and it worked but wouldnt focus close enough for most airgun work
