I need a low power variable to cover from muzzle to 500 meters for 3 gun matches. Open to suggestions. was looking at leupold 1-4, USO 1-4, ior Bulldog, meopta 1-4KD. Anybody with hands on experience would be greatly appreciated. If you have other suggestions please chime in. My list is just what I was thinkg of.

I gotta see it first. If it's half as good as it looks on Visio it's gonna turn the CQB / 3 Gun world on its ear.

I've ran a Meopta 1-4 for the last 4 years in 3 gun. Awesome optic, but best used for 300 yrd matches. Beyond that the optic is not well suited as the reticle does not have hold-over lines and elev. turret can't be dialed w/fingers. I now run a Swarovski v6i 1-6x. Does everything the Meopta does with more magn. and a turret that can be dialed. The other two optics that will get u to 500 is the Burris XTR 1-4x and the Trijicon TR24 1-4x. The Xtr has a hold-over reticle (need to match your load to the reticle). You can dial your dope on the Trij. TR24. Remember that in 3 gun you will likely only have one or two long range stages. The optic/reticle you can shoot quickly and accurately is the the one you want. For me, a day time ill. reticle is a must have to accomplish this. I tried the Burris XTR and didn't like the reticle. The TR24 would be my choice if I wasn't shooting the Swarov.

I will be interested in what USO has coming out. I have not tried a SN4.

Also- The title of your post says you will be running a AR10 in 3 gun. Almost everyone shoots an AR15 in .223 in the tactical optics division. Most AR10 shooters shoot in the heavy metal or he-man division which don't allow an optic on the rifle.

This is for fun shoots. We shoot steel silhouettes in non sanctioned matches. They are calibrated to take head shots with a 223 (and some times a double tap at that) so most of the guys shoot 308s. This is just for fun stuff.

If you like Leupold look at the 1.5-5x Mark 4 w/ SPR. They say 5.56mm on the elev. knob but I'm pretty sure you can get .308 knob's for them also. Call Leupold if your interested. That's the question I was asking also. What type of 3-gun matches are you planning to shoot with your AR-10? If IPSC or Tactical 3-gun type matches, you'll be at a fairly decent disadvantage shooting the 308. "Heavy Metal" division is where you usually see the AR-10's M1A's etc.

I'm the match director for a "Tactical Carbine" match here in Birmingham a few times a year. I specifically added a "Heavy Metal Optics" division so people could have a place to shoot their AR-10 platform rifles with scope/dot.

I love shooting my AR-10 w/scope. I really like the NF 1-4x but am certainly intrigued about the new USO offering....... The "holy grail" of low power variables for 3-gun and carbine match competition has yet to be developed in just about everyone's opinion.

Another place to get good info on optics for 3-gun rifles is the Brian Enos forums. Plenty of discussion and opinion there on what works.

I was really impressed with the NF 1-4x. Met a guy at a range that had one and it was amazing.

Personally, I have an eotech with the 3x FTS which from my understanding is really a 3.5x. I haven't had the chance to use it at 3 gun comps but it was a helluva lot cheaper than other high dollar scopes.

I've heard great things about the Burris too.

That aint right, almost like a hot girl telling you how bad she wants you, only to say "I'll give it to you on your birthday in a couple of weeks".
