Recently purchased a Bergara b14 hmr in 6.5 creedmoor, I will be using it for my local PRS matches, I'll be putting a rail on it with a modular evolution bipod, area 419 hellfire brake, 20 moa rail and a trigger tech trigger. I'm looking for a mil scope, open turrets, 34mm tube and preferably 56mm objective, will most likely be using seekins rings. I've been looking at the vortex razor hd gen II, Nightforce ATACR F1 and have also considered a Kahles or an Athlon cronus. Need some advice from experience on which is the best for the money and all around best. Also what is the differences between the Nightforce ATACR and the B.E.A.S.T.? Also open to other options, lower cost is better because I'll be able to get the scope sooner and get more practice in with it instead of using the cheap scope off a hunting rifle I have on the rifle temporary. Thanks.

If money is tight? I'd go with Athlon. I've owned one before. It will do all the things to preform well in competition. Its almost as good as a gen 2. It just doesn't have locking turrets. It weights a little less. The outward appearance of the Cronus isn't as polished as a gen 2. The cronus tracks and has better reticles coming out all the time.

In the end you'll have money to shoot more often.

On the other hand I just picked up a 3-18x50 gen 2 razor in the PX because I like them so much. The same price as a Cronus. Gen 2 prices are falling everyday. Not because they aren't good scopes. Its because there are so many good choices these days!

Thanks for the info, I'm kind of sceptical of Athlon because of the mixed reviews I've been hearing about them.

I have experience with NF ATACR F1 and S&B PMII

Both have excellent glass, crisp turret feel, and are reliable and repeatable.

If you are serious about shooting, I would not buy less, even if it takes a little more time to buy. I would pick the reticle of choice and go with either one of the NF or S&B. Another thing about these scopes, if you buy one with a popular reticle, re sale or trade becomes much easier.
