I just sold the junk nikon scope on my ar and now am ready to buy a new one. My ar is a 20in barrel and used for coyote hunting and target shooting out to 600. I like the vortex viper hs lr 4-16x44 but i am worried at 13.7 inches long it will be a little long and bulky. I also like the pst 2.5-10x44 and at 12in it should be a great size but is as far as my budget will stretch. I also prefer to have more than 10 power. I am not dead set on vortex but it must be 30mm tube, open turrets and 600 is as much as i can spend. Any suggestions would be great.

My first choice for that application would be the SWFA SS 3-15x42. It can be found on demo pricing occasionally for around $600, and used under $600. The vortex HS-T 4-16x44 would be my next pick, but in that mag range I prefer FFP. But, it is a high value scope that would be great.

For a lighter and more compact option, check out Leupold Mk AR. Leupold 4-12x40 Mark AR MOD 1 Riflescope & Mount Kit

Very light weight and still mil/mil, lifetime warranty etc. I have the 3-9x40 version and like it pretty well for an AR.

Thanks for the help guys. I think i am going to pick up a demo vortex viper hs 4-16 x44 from camera land for 400 i can give it a try for that price. Thanks company man that was just the pic i wanted to see. That is a great looking rifle you have.
