Rifle Scopes Scope for my new HMR Pro 6.5 Creedmoor

New to the forum and ready to step up and buy quality glass for my new incoming Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor. I own several rifles on different platforms and have always "settled" on optics choices for them, but this time I want to do things right for this rifle.

Obviously I'm looking for suggestions and guidance on scope for this rifle to open my eyes to some other options for me. This will be primarily a target rifle and I plan to take it with me next year when I attend a Leupold PSR-1 class where we will be shooting out to 1000 yards. My home ranges typically only go out to 200 yards, but I plan to shoot to longer distance after I build some core skills in the planned class.

So basically, I'm looking for a scope that I can shoot from 100-1000 yards and thinking I should be able to achieve that on a 0 MOA 1 piece EGW mount. I'm thinking I would like a scope that has magnification up to 20-25x, but I'm open to tube and Objective sizes. I'm not overly concerned about weight, but it is always possible I could be hiking with this rifle, so I'm paying some attention.

Now for what everyone is wondering, my budget is up to $2500.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards a Vortex AMG, but really would like to hear from a broad audience of other options/ideas.

I'd suggest finding a reticle you like in a quality scope (Steiner, Athlon, S&B, Minox, Leupold, etc) and go from there. It's our pleasure to discuss different options with you, if you've got a few minutes.

To be honest, I would prefer a good ole mil dot reticle, but I haven't seen that option. They all seem to be busy, in my opinion but I think after some training I'll probably find a modern reticle helpful.

Weaver made a 5-30x56 with a mil dot. Built like a tank with excellent turrets. I don’t know if they still make it though. It was around $2k msrp but were on a huge sale a few months or so ago. I found one used here on the hide. It tracks like a tank and I’ve had it to 1k many times.

Sightron? I seem to recall a more simplistic reticle/mil dot....but honestly just call Doug. You will not regret his experience and commitment to helping you find the right match regardless if he makes the sale or has to send you to a friendly competitor.

Either go all out with your budget and get into a top tier scope (NF, Khales, AMG, S&B, etc) with your preferred reticle, or you can get a less expensive scope but still a great scope (Gen1 Razor, MK5 HD, Cronus BTR, T5XI, etc) and have some funds left over for a training class, a couple cases of ammo, or the extra gear that is always needed for long range shooting... bipods, can or muzzle brake, mags, kestrel, chronograph, binos or spotting scope, etc. Anyways, good luck with your search and welcome to the addiction!

My 2 cents in this would be to go for a Vortex PST Gen II 5-25-50 FFP. I have been shooting your exact same rifle with this scope out to 600 yards and have had no problems whatsoever. A huge pro for this is that it retails for 1000$ aprox after this point the overall quality doesn't get leaps and bounds better with an extra wad of cash thrown at it (in my opinion) Gives you ample funds to buy other things for the rifle and system: Muzzle brake, Kestral, bipod, bullets, mags etc. The glass is super sharp and clear and the turrets are very tactile and its easy to feel each click. My limited budget mindset tells me not to put more into the scope than the rifle, especially when a 4 inch plate at 600 yards is very achievable with this setup when I do my part.

Ew.

The Mark 5hd might be the scope for you, the TMR reticle isn't the most modern on designs, but it doesn't give up much, is a far better option than standard mil dot, and is the cheapest option available.

Thanks for the replies and feedback.

A couple weeks ago, I was close to pulling the trigger on the PST Gen II, but I looked at/though one in person and was not exactly in love. Also looked at/through the Mark 5 HD that day, but it was just a little beefier than I wanted. Started reading a bit and that led me to the AMG. Saw one in person at the range and was hooked. The more and more I look at different reticles designs, the more I liked the EBR7B in MRAD. After posting this thread and looking around a bit more, I found the Kahles 525i and was seriously lusting and liked the SKMR3 reticle, as well. I did a little pricing and pondering and was close to extending my budget, but decided to reel myself in a bit and go back the AMG.

I ordered the AMG with MRAD reticle, along with a set of PMR rings from Scott @ Liberty Scopes. He quoted me a price I could not pass up, so I just sent payment a few minutes ago.

Now for the 6 week wait. That might be the worst part as I am seriously impatient, but I have at least a couple weeks to go before I have my hands on the rifle, anyway. I'm in CA, so after waiting for shipping, I have to go in do paperwork, before waiting another 10 days, anyhow.

I'm glad I contacted Scott. He was very easy to deal with and had me taken care of, very quickly with a great price.

I cant complain that you went with Vortex, also APA sells some awesome muzzle brakes with outstanding customer support.

Received my AMG today and am more than pleased. Unfortunately my rings missed the boat, so I'll have to wait a few extra days before I can mount it up. Six weeks felt like a long time, but I'm still very happy with my choice.
