I am looking to buy a scope for my savage real soon. I just wanted an idea of what you guys are using. I love mildot its what i use on my .308. Any advice would be cool. Just would like to see what you recommend. 100yd will be max probably more 50 to 75.

Re: scope for my savage mk2 .22lr??

Sky is the limit on glass so it will come down to personal preference. I run Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 mildot on my MK2 but Buckmaster 4-14x40 mildot is another great option. SWFA-s are great but I prefer variable power for rimfires.

Re: scope for my savage mk2 .22lr??

I was using a Nikon Buckmasters 4-14 Mil-dot on my Mark II for the longest time. Great glass and tracks well. I would recommend an EGW 20moa scope base for your Mark II. This will give the MOA to get to 200+ yards using most Mil-dot scopes.

I'm selling that very scope when I get back to the states in a few weeks if you are interested. I have since moved up to a Falcon 5-25 50mm FFP Mil/Mil. I'm running my 22LR out to 300+ yards so I needed the extra magnification, and I like the fact that it's pretty much a spot on miniature setup of my competition rifle.

Let me know....

I'm in the same boat now. But plan on pushing mine out to 300 and beyond. I am either going to go with a 16X SS or a 4-16 Viper PST. Many members have had good luck with the Bushnell 3200 fixed 10X on this site. It is hard to argue its price for the positive reviews it has received.

Re: scope for my savage mk2 .22lr??

If you're going to shoot at 75 to 100 yds. then a SWFA SS will fill the job nicely with the scope mounts that come on the rifle. I've got the SS 10X42 HD on mine, I'll probably go with the 3X9 on this rifle later and put the HD on my 308 Win.

We need to get one of the Mod's to sticky that thing, not that anyone will see or read it, but on the off chance someone doesn't use the search (like that ever happens, everyone uses the search right?) and see's this thread before posting another "which scope" thread, which we don't have enough of by the way, they could have many answers on their computer screens like magic! Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Hahaha sorry I just couldn't resist! Look around the Optics section, they welcome "which scope" questions, they get less of them than the rimfire section does

Wow, three grins, I must be feeling good today, so here's a bonus emoticon for you boys

I agree. I would like to see a sticky in the optics section and possibly even here in the rimfire section where members give info of the scope or scopes they use. Weather its a brief overview with some specs or a detailed review. I admit I to often have questions about some optics and some are hard to find answers to and often what u can find is mixed 50/50. It would be nice to see all that in one thread. Granted you may have to sort through info that does not pertain to your needs but over time almost all the often asked questions would be answered. It would be nice to see the specs on different model from real experience compared to what the manufacture publishes. Also helpful to possibly know what the owner of "x" scope owned before. Did that scope fail? Why did you switch? Which had cleaer glass and better turrets and so on.
This would be a EXTREMELY helpful thread if used properly. As long as you didn't run into posts like this. I used to own a Millett it was a piece of junk. Buy a nightforce! They kick ass! Just a example but we all know it would happen if not properly addressed. Lol
I know this is completely off topic now and sorry if I offended the op. I did not intend to in any way and you did nothing wrong. Its your money and no matter what your budget is your doing right by researching and trying to find a optic to support your needs. I just think we can provide these answers in a better way.

Re: scope for my savage mk2 .22lr??

That is kool... But if i post about a scope for a rimfire in the scopes for rifles forum. I am more than likely going to get someone being sarcastic, saying i need to be in rimfire section. Finding where to post can be a problem when trying to beat the sacrasm of where i am supposed to be at.
