Hello everyone I'm looking for some advice on a scope. I have a national match M1A in a Mcmillan M2A stock and I'm in the market for a new scope. My application will be from 100 to maybe 800 yard, thats my goal at least and I'm just wondering what magnification and brands people would recommend any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Budget?
If theres no limitations id go with a Nightforce, or S&B

Use the search function, you might get ripped apart by people who have to answer the same questions over and over, read up on reviews, etc
Read the stickied threads on this subforum, and Bolt Action Rifles, relating to your question

Re: scope help or ideas

Iv tried looking around and I should of wrote the question better cause I have a 1000 dollar budget sorry for not stating that. Im interested in basically the Bushnell elite 4200 6x24 the Trijcon acupoint 5x20 and the leupold mark 4 4.5x 14 and how they all compare. Any 1st hand info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: scope help or ideas

The Trijicon is nice but you are limited by the internal adjustment range... I own a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14X50 with TMR reticle and really like it, but it is the most expensive of the three and if you look around you will see many complaints about Leupold's QC issues. The Bushnell you mentioned is not even in the same class as the other two--with a one inch tube, only 26 inches in internal adjustment, and 1/8th inch clicks. Out of those three the Leupold is hands down better if you get one that works.

In your price range I would look hard at the Vortex PST 4-16 or 6-24.
