Do the scopes with Digital illumination, (IOR and USO) adjust like say an Eotech? I mean, can they adjust down until they're very dim? I like how the Eotech's can be turned way down for night hunting and not "cover up" what I'm trying to hit. Does that make sense?

Thanks

Re: Scope illumination

After using a scope with illum, I see no point to buying any scope in the future without it. It is nice to use in low light situations. Since scopes are available with illum, why buy one without it?

Re: Scope illumination

Just about every scope that has an illuminated reticle has adjustments that usefull for just about any lighting condition, except daylight because they are mostly designed for low light shooting. Junk scopes are usually too bright for night time use. I personally haven't had a problem using scopes like that, but of I was looking for a daytime illuminated reticle I'd see what Trijicon had. Their larger rifle scopes that are set up with the same tritium/fiber optic reticle as thier ACOG would do great in either.

Are the NiteForce scopes adjustable? Thought they were just "on/Off". I figured the illumination would have to be digital in order to adjust down to the levels I'm wanting.

Thanks

You set them "once" and then they are on/off. So, if you want an active rheostat that you can easily/quickly change as conditions change you would have to select the benchrest or compact NXS models as they have that feature.

Re: Scope illumination

The compact NXS, such as the 2.5-10x24 have multiple settings that can be adjusted by turning the side turret. On my larger NXS, I took it out in the evening and adjusted the rheostat to a level that worked out for me and left it at that.

Re: Scope illumination

if you want an illumination scope for daylight the lupy has the firedot i think is what they call it but you can see the red dot even during daylight . I have one for my son on his rifle he says it is easier for him to aim vs a thin crosshair which he is more accurate with this scope then the ones with a crosshair.

The pre-digital USOs still use an adjustable reostat. Would that be less efective somehow than a digital besides wear and tear of the reostat?
