I saw, maybe on youtube, a guy cleaning his lens with acetone, if I remember correct. Is this safe for all scopes? I have some that need cleaning bad. Thanks

Re: Scope Lens Cleaning

you can get a lens pen from amazon for a few dollars they have a very gentle lens cleaning fluid and a brush and soft pad for cleaning and your lenses come up very very nice!

DONT USE ACETONE

Re: Scope Lens Cleaning

I find it very odd how any company can recommend using Acetone to clean lenses that have very expensive fragile coatings, when Acetone removes the varnish off womens nails, its very harsh stuff.

look at what Zeiss say

Care and maintenance
Your Carl Zeiss riflescope requires no special maintenance. Do not rub course particles (e. g. sand) from the lenses. Blow them off, or use a soft brush! Over time, fingerprints can corrode the lens surface. Breathing on the lens and polishing with a clean optical cleansing cloth/tissue is the easiest method of cleaning the lens surface

Re: Scope Lens Cleaning

Sorry but they clearly state that acetone should be used for lens cleaning of their scopes and they have a video showing the process that they recommend. I guess finger nails are not their bag

Re: Scope Lens Cleaning

Follow the manufacturer's recommendations. For USO -- acetone and compressed air. For Leupold -- the Officially Branded Leupold Lens pen and nothing else.

If you follow the manufacturer's recommendations and booger the scope, then you've got a leg to stand on. If you don't and do, then you're SOL.
