I am a long time follower and 1st time poster. I am building a Rem 700 Tactical .308 which I have in a AICS Chassis, 1st build I have done. I recently purchased a Schmidt and Bender PMII 5-25x56 on the price match from EuroOptic. The ground that I shoot on has range out to 900 yards. A friend had recommended a Nightforce 1 piece 20 MOA Base and Nightforce 1.125 High 34 mm Ultralite Rings. Am looking for advice is this a good setup?

Your Schmidt and Bender's PMII elevation is maximized with a 40 MOA base. That 20 MOA base will work but if you're purchasing new I would suggest going 40 MOA.as your Schmidt is spec'd for that and with a 20 MOA base you'll use up about half of your elevation in zeroing. As mentioned, at 900 it probably won't matter but if your needs change it could/would.

20 MOA will be fine, especially for a 308. Ring height will depend on you and your rifle - comfortable, objective lense clearance over front rail, cheek weld adjustment, etc.

Either way, Nightforce rings are good quality, can't go wrong with them.
