Rifle Scopes Scope mount - is this too close?

I mounted a scope/rings combo I purchased used from a member on this board. The scope mounts level, but *just* makes contact with the rail system on the barrel of the rifle.

Do I need taller rings?

hard to tell from your camera angle... if its not touching anywhere it is ok.

I think it is making very light contact on the rails.
Can you explain what can happen to the scope if the rifle is fired this way?

By the way, these are Badger Max 50 High rings.

If you can't slide a folded paper I wouldn't shoot it you can bend the tube... if you think it is making light contact, it is, so change the rings.
