Rifle Scopes Scope mount vs rings

I just bought my first decent this morning a Vortex Razor HD II, and I'm having a time finding rings locally so I can go shooting Saturday morning. I found a shop 50 miles away that has MDT Elite rings. I really wanted an MPA BA mount since it's one piece but I would have to wait for shipping on that and would not be able to shoot this weekend.

Anyways this is going on a Bighorn/Zermatt Arms Origin action. Would it put marks on my new scope using rings? I would imagine tolerances are held really well over a factory gun, but if it's better for me to postpone shooting this weekend and spend another $50 for a 1 piece scope mount then I will wait it out.

Depends on the rings. I'm a fan of the MPA mount. Solid one-piece at a reasonable price.

No cons to quality rings. They are usually cheaper than mounts also. I use Seekins rings with my Razor II scopes and never an issue.

I use rings on bolt guns and mounts on AR style platforms.
Rings are more versatile.

You guy talked me into it. I weng into town and bought the MDT Elite rings, since it was the only thing available local. $229 OTD rings are pricey.

Make sure you don't torque them down too tight - the box will tell you what to torque them down to in Inch lbs
