I will be buying new rings to lower my scope on a SAKO TRG-22 and want to ensure I get the right height. The calculation of ring height for my rig is as follows:
Nightforce benchrest scope with 56mm objective has a bell diameter of 68mm. My picatinny rail top is 7mm above the barrel.
So 68mm/2=34mm plus 3mm for clearance = 37mm minus the rail thickness of 7mm is 30mm. So if I've done the math correctly I should need rings with height of 30mm or greater.
Can some of our experienced scope mounting experts confirm my math is correct and I haven't missed something.
