Rifle FN SPR 308- scope NF 5.5-22-56. Rail badger 20 moa. Currently the scope has high 1.125 NF ultra lite rings. My goal is to try and get 1/8" spacing obj to barrel spacing. The spacing from objective to barrel is just under a 1/4". I installed some med 1.0 rings and now there is 1/16 to 3/32 spacing.

I like the look and function of 1/8" spacing and the small difference helps on the fit and cheek weld. I have looked for and cant find any rings that will get me there.

Is 1/16 to 3/32 to tight on spacing?

Any thoughts on how to get the spacing?

Prob the only way to get that exact with it will be to get some Burris XTR signature rings. Then you could add some height or take some away with the inserts while still keeping the scope angle you want. I used them to fine tune my clearance and scope slope.

1/16" isn't too close unless it interferes with scope caps or something.

A whipping barrel isn't going to move very much relative to the receiver that close to the receiver to cause any contact.

People free float stocks with 1-2 dollar bills clearance which is a lot less than 1/16".

If you can get your cheek weld, eye relief and LOP good with the low rings, go with it.

I generaly try and get my scopes as low as possible but I never get hung up on a specific measurement so long as it is comfortable while behind the rifle.
With my build I usually don't need an adjustable cheek piece using most mounts and scopes but I am 6'2" so my neck and face length usually works out about right on A5 pattern or similar stocks, on an AR or chassis rifle that would change depending on the scope height I'm sure.

The length of pull is were I find most lacking generally.

Thanks for the information. I just read an older post in the scope forum. Thread on best rings. There was a post on arc rings.

Just checked their web site and they produce 1.10 med rings for 30mm.

They look good but all my experience and past discussion on is NF, badger and seekins.

Any feedback on the arc rings?

ARC rings are of superb quality, design, and function. If given a choice between all the rings you mentioned above and ARC rings, I would choose ARC.

I would run ARC rings in any situation possible before badger, nf, etc... They work the same (if not better in terms of scope tube damage/scuffs) and it's only 2 screws total.
