I am looking for a GOOD and VERY DURABLE scope for this project... mainly to give me some practice time with cheaper ammo...

Havent really made a decision on FIXED or VARIABLE power... Doesnt really matter...

But.. I NEED to stay at $500 or LESS... I want something that will last.

Requirments:

30MM Tube
Mildot or some variation

EDIT TO ADD: I looked at the SS series... Weaver Tactical... any ideas on something around those lines as it would save me about $200...

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Scope Opinion

SWFA. Go with a fixed in the magnification of your liking, and spend the extra ~200 budget on more ammo/reloading.

*edit* since DerMeister mentioned testing in comment below, I feel I should mention I've done tests on my 20x on a few different occasions, every time tracked perfectly (IN MOA, not IPHY), Mil Dot spacing was perfect.

Re: Scope Opinion

Bushnell, SS, Weaver. I haven't read anything bad about any of them.

I have the fixed 10x SS and it has be serving me well. Glass is ok, but it is durable and seems to track well. I haven't run any tests on mine yet.

They're coming out with new ones that might that suit some people better for the same price. 12x, Mild-quad, mil/mil so that is something to look at.

I think a Vortex just came out for around $500 too, looks pretty nice for the price.

Re: Scope Opinion

Keep an eye on the SWFA sample list. There seems to be SS 3-9x42 scopes on there almost weekly @ $499.00

One would think that the Mil-Quad model SS 3-9's should start showing up on there as SWFA recently removed the Mil-Dot model from their web site.

Have the SS 3-9 on my AR and LOVE it!
