Currently using a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 on a Bergara B-14 HMR 6.5 Creedmoor . All shooting is done either on bench or prone position during the daytime at ranges up to 500 yards. Hope to eventually find a 1000 yard range. Want to stay with Vortex 30mm tube scope product and pay less than $1,000. Any suggestions?

The quality of their scopes, excellent warranty, and the professional staff I have dealt with in their sales and customer service.
Vortex makes some great stuff. There's a ton of other companies out there too, making nice optics in the sub $1k range.
I've used and recommended SWFA SS to many friends and we've all been very happy with them. Search Athlon on here, lots of people are rocking their scopes now and are very happy too.

Played with their new midas tac and ares etr? They are turning out to be very solid optics
I'd buy one of these on closeout for $500. A PST just isn't worth the $1K that the gen 2's run. At that price you're at what you can get a used Japanese optic for and just south of what new ones go for. For a $200-$300 more you can get a brand new Athlon Cronus, Bushnell DMR2, or LRTS which is a far superior scope to the PST's.
