I’m putting together a rpr in 300 prc, I have the scope and am ordering the gun tomorrow. Until recently I planned on using vortex precision matched rings. It’s my first .30 cal magnum, and I’ve had a couple people tell me these rings won’t be enough to hold my razor gen 2. Stating I’d need a spuhr mount or something along the lines. Was looking for some second opinions on mounts and rings for my setup, don’t really want to drop $400 if u don’t need to..

If it sounds like BS, and smells like BS, then it’s BS. I run Badger Aluminum (equivalent to Vortex Precision Match Rings) and steel rings on all of my rifles, including 338 and never had one to slip.

I just bought a Spuhr Mount for my Leupold MK 5HD that is on my 6.5 comp gun. There are things I like about the Spuhr and things I am not fond of.

Not fond of, are minor
- price, I think we all agree to this!
- not enough forward and aft movement. My scope is sitting back, and a portion of the Spuhr mounts sits off the rail. The center section of Leupold Mark 5 HD does not help either.
- bubble level is slightly off, compared to my SendIt Level. I removed the bubble level which is nice.

I will buy Spuhr again. Mounting and leveling is super easy. All fasteners are T-20, and the triangle level was within 0.5 degrees. The ring alignment was spot on. Spuhr does an excellent job of machining these mounts.

Thanks for all the help guys! I figured the rings would hold but figured there’s way more knowledge and experience here to be completely sure. It’ll either be vortex precision rings or Hawkins heavy precision rings.
