Hi all, as the title says the rings on my scope mount are shooting loose. The rifle is a TRG-42 with a custom made 3 ring scope mount and base. When cleaning the rifle after it's first outing (20 Rounds Factory Ammo Fired) I noticed that all 3 rings has loosened to the point that the scope could be easily rotated left or right. I followed the manufacturer's instructions as far as how much torgue and how to apply it and he says that this is the first time he's has a customer complaint on this. The ring's attachment to the base stays secure it's the rings that are loosening up on the scope.

Thanks!!

Did you degrease <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">all of the mating surfaces</span></span> (<span style="text-decoration: underline">all</span> threads, the scope tube, the inside of the rings) before you mounted the scope? If you didn't, dismount the scope, remove the screws, then throughly degrease all of the mating surfaces noted above with alcohol, brake cleaner, or another good degreaser. Unless the ring ID is oversize and/or the tube OD is undersize you shouldn't have any more slipping problems. It shouldn't be necessary but if you can also use a touch of (Blue) Loctite on the threads.

Re: Scope Rings Loosening

Thanks guys, I did not do the degreasing but I will now. I've been in contact with the mount's maker, so far he's been very helpful.
