I have a 260 rem in savage model 11 and would like to shoot at least 700 yards. I have a very low budget, is there a scope that is suitable for this for $300 or less? Or am I wasting my time?

Welcome to the Hide'.You are not wasting your time. You might take a look at some of the SWFA scopes. I have never had one but hear good things about them. Also don't rule out the used market.

If you want to shoot "at least 700yds", do yourself a favor and save up another few hundred $ before buying a scope. Your choices and satisfaction will go up significantly!

I am looking to do mostly paper punching but maybe the occasional deer hunting trip. It will be out in a factory savage 11 long range hunter. The most expensive scope I already own is a nikon buckmaster 6-18x40 which was right around that same price range because I mainly just deer hunt. I am just now getting into the longer range shooting. I really like the swfa that was recommended just wandering how suitable it would e for say less than 100 yd deer hunt

I have hunted with a fixed 10x just fine. That being said: I try to hunt farther out so if I get a close shot it is accidental and less desirable. At close range: say "40 yards" it is no problem but takes practice. You have to train with it a little more than a lower power variable but it is very doable.
