Rifle Scopes Scope to ring mounting

Found an interesting technique I hadn't seen before to mount a scope to rings.


At 00:57, he uses latex strips as a bed. Have not seen this before. I've always mounted scope directly to ring.

Time for a sanity check. Does adding the extra strip make sense?

It does to me. Enough to remount my new scope.

But I am skeptical about the accent and "German Gun Club" stuff....everybody knows Europe and the UK is turned to Socialism and guns are verboten in Germany.

I've always heard to use Elmer's glue. Spuhr uses the resin, right?

Might give this one a try for kicks, though, and see what happens. Kinda like the Burris ring inserts.

Not a bad idea for old ass shit or crappy daisey air gun gear but no way in hell would I ever put something in between the rings and the scope that are of value. They are already sized appropriately. All this will do is to put undo stress into the scope.

Agree with Spife - might work (and be needed) with $25.00 rings from Wally World.

Specifically remember Hakin from spuhr saying to not use anything with spuhr mounts. Video was from shot 2018 talking to 6.5 guys I believe.

The only thing that should go in between your scope and the rings is the coating on your scope.

Why do people make things so difficult?

Scope mounting is simple:
1) Buy rings that are made buy a reputable company - unless you anticipate throwing your rifle from a moving car you likely don't need anything special.
2) Mount said rings - obey manufacturers instructions (or just don't be a ham fist).
3) Enjoy your rifle scope.
