I have a #7 contour custom barrel on a Remington 700. I have badger .085 rings on a 20 MOA base. My problem is that the Butler Creek objective cover will not fit because the scope is very close to the barrel. The Butler cover just touches the barrel, so I really don't want to use it like that.I also don't want to change out my rings to higher ones.

Does any one have a recommendation to a very thin scope cover I could use on this combo? The Nightforce factory covers are also too thick. I've trimmed them, but they don't look good.

Thanks for your feedback.

I don't think the Butler Creeks touching the barrel will hurt anything. I have the same situation but have not seen any adverse effects. I may go to a higher ring setup just because of the mirage caused by the warm barrel after I've fired a few rounds. This might not be a problem in warmer weather however, but it is noticable in sub thirty degree weather.

You could always try sanding the Butler Creeks down, perhaps someone else here has tried that.

Thanks for all the quick and good suggestions. I went with the cut and glue method and it works perfectly.

Thanks and have a Merry Christmas!
