Rifle Scopes Scope weight?

It seems that the scope manufactures now are making the scopes lighter. Leupold is saying their new Mark5 is 20 Oz. lighter than a lot of scopes in the same scope type. Just using Leupold as a example. So were do you think they are getting rid of weight from. I don't know anything about building a scope, but if they are making their tubes thinner would this make the scopes less durable?

That is a good question. no idea of the actual forces applied to or done to rifle or pistol scopes and its parts from recoil or the shot fired.
