I wanna sell my falcon 10x42 and get something with some "power" how ever i cant really have any thing past 15" because it will get in the way of my charging handle

I wanted to get the falcon 5.5-24 or something like that but its 15.94 inches long, my butt pad is already extended out pretty far and iam not sure i can go ne further to compensate for the almost extra inch, providing it was to even come back far enough for me to lock my bolt back.

the viper pst seems to be right in the ball park in length but even with what i make off my scope i would still cost me roughly 500 bucks... thats kinda high for me right now.

any other "good" scopes at "good" prices ? the falcon 4-14 is at an ok length but i wanted something with just a little more magnification

Re: scopes by length need opinions

I'm betting that the scope's not for an AR, but an HK (specifically an MSG-90 clone rifle). Frankly, I'd be very surprised if a scope as long as 15" will work properly!

I know that you said you can adjust your buttplate out, move the scope back, etc., but that is a poor solution and one that will end up hindering you more than helping you in the long run. I am currently running a Leupold Mk4 3.5-10x40 on MSG-90 clone that is approx. 14" long and it just barely clears the cocking handle when its locked back. You could probably adjust your rifle to get slightly more clearance, but I'd stop there because you are going to be contorting yourself around the rifle instead of having a comfortable, solid position behind the rifle with everything adjust out like crazy.

That said, depending on how much more magnification you want/need, a friend of mine just mounted a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x on an HK SR9 that fit very well. The scope is around 13.5" in total length and it adequately cleared the cocking handle. I am sure that there are other options out there that will meet your needs. You might try going to MidwayUSA and searching centerfire rifle optics by magnification range. Once you find the magnification you want, you can look through all the selections to see what lengths you can get down to.
