It it reasonable to assume that the same type of scopes made by LOW are pretty similar performance wise like the Cronus, Razor Gen2, Primary Arms Platinum, and so on? Could you just pick the one with the reticle you like and not worry too much about the brand? Thanks!

No, it's not a reasonable assumption.

LOW is a contract manufacturer. They and their customers each negotiate agreements spelling out the specifications, materials, and price for every item that LOW gets hired to make.

Since I just about guarantee you that those contracts also include confidentiality agreements, there is no way for any of us to know what kind of differences there are in performance and material specifications between the scope that LOW makes for customer A vs a very similar scope they make for customer B, etc, etc.

The performance, internal components etc will very between what the manufacturer wants at the price point they want to stay under

That said I’ve had very good luck with my Japanese glass. Be it Sightron, Burris, NF, Athlon Etc

The quality is consistently a step up from Chinese and Philippines quality which most scope makers that have LOW products have the others as well. Of course this usually comes at a price

308 pirate how would differentiate what scope to get then?

Especially if you didn't live across the street from a big optics retailer and couldn't look at all of them?

Just start with some research.

Here’s your first place to look

Search the forum here and see what others are using and what they like.

Many like NF, Vortex Razors, Athlon Cronus BTR, Bushnell XRS and the list goes on. Find what others are using and what brands are reliable. Many here shoot prs or other disciplines. Then out of those select the reticle/features you like best and you’ll have your optic

If for some reason you don’t enjoy it you’ll be able to sell or trade on here and get something else at minimal loss. The PX section has lots of optics and if you find something there you’ll cut losses even further if you decide to part with it

Quoting this, just in case anyone needs to read it again.

Specs matter, and just because scopes A and B rolled out of the same factory doesn't mean they're the same specs, even if there's superficial similarities.

Absolutely not. Each MFG will have different MFG and QC standards. Not to mention different internal components. The only thing LOW is guaranteed to provide is the potential for a quality optic.

I liked my Maven RS.4 better than my Cronus BTR and sold the Cronus. Turrets felt better in the Cronus, zero setting in the Maven was much better, FOV on the Cronus was narrower, they had different minimum parallax, finishes, etc.

In short, not all LOW scopes are the same. I believe each company uses their own proprietary coatings too.
