I am thinking of scoping a k31 to shoot out to 800 or 1000. There is a nice mount for a k31 but has 0 MOA. How much Moa would I need to get to to 1000. Would a Falcon Menace do the job? I has 75 moa, if not which scope Nightforce? Thanks

I recently got a K31 out of the "Clear Blue" in lieu of a payment for some labor, so in a way it didn't cost me anything (just like any hobby, your time invested is worth NOTHING when it's time to sell). Have since fell in love with the quality, looks (novelty) and performance and want to see how inexpensively I can create a consistent 1000 yd performer. Which mount are you looking at? I'm looking at the right side clamp-on by SwissProductsLLC in steel and a SS 10 X 42. The only issue so far is finding QUALITY 30mm rings that have a 3/8 Dovetail base and it would be nice if they were windage adjustable also. A 20 MOA cant would be nice. Maybe I should break down and call SwissProducts... ? Post about what you end up with. Best Regards ! Joe

The round is very capable, it's close to a 30-06 if loaded hot. You should need somewhere around 30-33 MOA to come up from your 100yd zero with 180gr bullets.

I gave up on scoping mine. I don’t want to trash the mounts out there, but the ones I tried just didn’t work. The problem is the brass would eject almost straight up, which would go directly in to the optic and then would fall back in to the magazine. Not good. I was able to return the mount and moved on. I have 2 K31’s and my buddy has one. They all eject straight up. Even if the brass ejected away from the scope, the mount I tried was offset to the left side and you couldn’t get any kind of comfortable cheek weld to shoot.
Another option is a mount that replaces the rear sight blade. The problem with that solution is that you have to get a long eye relief scope. I just wasn’t a fan of those.
My opinion is that the gun just really wasn’t made to be scoped.

I agree about this rifle and scopes not being meant for each other. I've seen people scope the rifle for 100-300 yard shooting and they would have been better off buying a spotting scope to use with the irons. You certainly can put a scope on the rifle and shoot it out to the range you're talking about but it'll be a massive compromise of a long range rifle.

Just came back from the range with my scoped K-31 - have the St. Marie bolt-on side mount, Accumount 1" rings and the $99 Vortex 6-24 SWFA is selling in the Commercial Sales section.
After about 30 rounds to zero and then have fun, this combo seems to hold together, unlike a series of other rings and scopes.
You won't get consistent ejection with this setup, and scope clearance has been an issue, up against the rear iron sight mount. Also, you'll be leaning over a bit when looking through the scope as it's off to one side.
That said, it's a hell of a lot of fun putting the combo together and even if things get fucked up again, it's a chance to fiddle with a beautiful rifle and an excuse to run up to the local range.
A guy over on Calguns put together a drop chart for the Swiss match ammo out of a K-31 to 1000 - if I can dig up the link I'll post it.
