I have this painting framed in my house. I have always wondered what he was thinking. Was it?

A. There is no way they will take this land.
B. If you build it, Ben ROFLburger will come.
C. What is the best pack for carrying stuff on my back?

Good answer.

Re: Scouting

Me thinks that is a partial from a painting I have seen elsewhere. As I have not been in your house it begs the question as to where I have seen it.

Cherokee for certain.

Fort Dukane(ph)? (there is a French spelling that eludes me at the moment hence phonetics)

I'm old, my memory fails.

As to what he is thinking "Keep stacking, we'll be along..."

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Scouting

I'll go with answer C. He looks worried and like it's time to get out of dodge

Also (as Doc said) , it looks (from what I can tell from the section of the painting), that he is looking down on Fort Duquesne. Is the former Fort Pitt visible more to the right out of the picture frame?

There are very few Star Forts built in the US, even fewer standing today. Castillo De San Marcos is a wonderful example of their construction- especially given the material it was constructed from (coquina)

Re: Scouting

Dullards,

The answer is B. He’s sitting in a tree on the corner of Merrimac and P.J. McArdle Roadway looking across the Monongahela River down into Heinz Field. He’s thinking the Raider’s are going to beat them in the AFC Championship this year.
