Seating bullets- how far off lands?

Wondering if there is a good starting point to seat bullets off the lands?

1. What type of bullet are you shooting?
2. VLDs are more finicky...
3. Tangent ogive types can usually care less.
4. If it not a short throated custom...start at mag length and work back.

lot of determining factors but .010 off if you want an easy answer.

Bullets I will load - A-max, VLD and barnes

1. Amax typically don't care too much
2. VLD Loading Tips
3. I have never shot barnes
4. As stated, .01 is great...if you can get there. Some throats are too long and mags and mag boxes too short. If you can get there, great. If not, try mag length and work back in to minimum depth.

..start at 0.010", work your loads in 0.2 or 0.3 grain increments/decrements...or if you can..enlist someone who has QuickLoads....off forum of course!
