Well I finally decided to do some seating depth tests with my 700P and 155 scenars. Lets just say she likes it as close to the lands as possible. I only went to mag length due to the fact I won't be single feeding during hunting/comps. Here are the results. I was looking for best width height will come with OCW testing.
Edit: Forgot to add this is at 300 yards.

How in the hell did some guy pepper your target with it out at 300yds??</div></div> hitting a near by rock or part of a steel target - just a guess.

Re: Seating Depth

I had a guy accidentally fill in the lower right diamond on one of my targets the other day. But at least he kept out of the middle where I was shooting and had a .270 instead of a .308.

Anyway, looks like your rifle still likes them seated out as far as you can go. Not a large sample size, but if you can get away with the 2.86 OAL and still feed from a mag, that looks like a good depth to start your ladder test.

Re: Seating Depth

I suggest firing more than 3 shots to make any sort of conclusion. 3 shots is far from statistically significant. I would run the same groups of COALs and shoot at least 10 rounds for each COAL, and ideally like 20.

Now I don't take my own advice on this because I don't have the time, and I talk about my own 3 shot groups as indications of this or that, but deep down I know I should be doing more statistically valid testing.
