I got a HMR Pro last month and mounted a Seekins 20moa base and Seekins low rings to mount a PST Gen II 5-25x. I was a bit dissappointed to discover that the base and receiver have a .012" gap under the rear screws when torquing the front two screws to 15 in/lbs. My first instinct was to bed it. However, a gunsmith buddy of mine(who just mounted a scope on a different HMR Pro) said to try an EGW base. He suspects its the base instead of the receiver. I plan to check the Seekins base on a surface plate or precision parallel to see if the top is flat. I'll be supprised if its the base, but in all honesty, I'm surprised if its the receiver too.
Here's a pic which shows the optic mounted with no rear screws. I was mocking it up to get an idea of ring placement and check objective clearance. The base has .012" with or without the optic in place(screws are barely tight).
What's your thoughts?
