I’m planning on buying a seekins rifle because I have a discount code. I already have a 300 win mag that is a shooter but I was looking for another larger caliber for big game hunting. The only other long action calibers seekins offers is 28 nosler, 7mm rem mag, 300 prc and 338 win mag. I wanted some opinions if any of these calibers offer much of an advantage over the 300 win mag that it would be worth considering. Otherwise, I will probably just buy a 6.5 prc to use for medium sized game and range. Let me know what you guys think!

The advantage of all those is incremental over the 300 Win Mag. I don't see any real benefit in the 28 Nosler or 7mm Rem Mag. The 338 Win Mag might be preferred for Alaskan Bears and the 300 PRC will just give you a little extra in yards. I would go for the 6.5 PRC over an incremental change like that.

Not hijack the thread but I have a brand new PH2 in 300wm on the way to go along with my PH1 in 6creed. I plan on shooting factory ammo, looking at the berger ammo with the 215 or hornady precision hunter with the 200 eldx. Any one have experience with the PH2 in 300wm and factory ammo?

To OP, if you have a 300wm the others aren't buying you much. I'd get a 6.5PRC personally.

@ b6graham I’ll be loading my own rounds. I haven’t shot any factories out of my 300 wm so I’m not much help to you Clark33. I wish seekins made a 338 lapua but even in their custom shop the biggest they go is 33 nosler. ThNks for the input I was tempted by the little bit of energy I would get out of the 338 win mag but I agree it’s not worth it.

I ordered the PH2 in .300PRC. I’ve already got a nice .300RUM but why not have multiple options?!?!

Got an email that it is en route and should be here next Thursday. Already have glass, rings, and ammo...I’ll post up some info when I get to shoot it.

Nice. I am looking hard at one in 6.5PRC.

Need to find a discount code :)

They were guys on here selling the discount codes. That’s where I bought mine. 25% off up to a total discount of $2700! That’s not the purchase total - and they will do free shipping too! I actually bought 2 guns - total impulse on the PH2! Went to buy the Element in 6.5PRC and found out it’s a 12week wait time and realized the discount was not on the purchase price so I added the PH2 to my cart...

I have a ph1 in 300 win mag and it absolutely hammers with the 215 Berger ammo.

I bought a couple boxes of Hornady PH 212 eld-x to break in the barrel. I'm hoping they shoot well out of it. Maybe I'll find out this weekend...

Look what showed up at my FFL! According to my scale with Seekins muzzle break installed it weighs 7# 12.2oz

Those who have the PH2 in .300PRC what kind of pills are you finding that they like?

You could definitely take Elk with 156 gr Berger EOL's in 6.5 PRC. I love mine. Fraction of the recoil of my .300 WBY Mag which I've used for elk previously. Ballistics are almost identical at 550 yds and even better favoring the 6.5 PRC at 800 yds compared to a Nosler 165gr AB in the WBY.

Christiansen Arms MPR 6.5 PRC 24” carbon barrel 1-8” SilencerCo ASR

48F 86% 30.08mmHg 1200 ft
Berger 156 gr EOL Elite Hunter HPBT
RL 26 56.0
Hornady brass x 1 firing
Fed 210M
COL 2.030
COAL 2.940
Magneto V3
2949, 2962, 2956, 2947, 2955
2951 SD 5.4
1”group, moderate pressure circle on a few rounds

Great info! I’ve got a 6.5PRC on the way also.

Those of you that have a PH2, what are your thoughts on the action? I've read it is a cock-on-close, but haven't found anything official from Seekins. Is that true? I'm eyeing the 7mm mag for an all-around Montana hunting rifle. It looks like a pretty darn great setup.

It is cock on close, they get smoother with use. A little more effort to get that bolt knob down but if you run the bolt with purpose its a non issue.

Any other major reason to NOT get one? I don't love the idea of a cock on close, but it isn't a deal breaker.

I ordered a 6.5 PRC a week or so ago. Should help fill the void between my 300WM and 6.5 CM

I've had my PH2 in 6.5PRC since January. Really like it a lot. Only issue I've had with mine is that the base screws were not tight and I didn't check them to make sure. After 70-80- rds groups were all over the place. Once I fixed that issue I'm easily keeping 1/2" groups with Copper Creek 140gr Berger Elite Hunters. I'm not too enthused with the stock and will eventually replace it. Just trying to decide what to replace it with.

Picked up my PH2 300wm today. Got it scoped up and on paper. First 200yd zero group wasn’t bad. Shooting Berger ammo 215 hybrid at 2850. Ear plug for reference
