I try not to ask much for questions that are relatively easy to find the answers to, and so, for this seemingly simple question, I feel a bit silly to ask.

I have a new upper build that I'm working on, and I'm looking to get a barrel for the bad boy. Its going to run on an Armalite AR10 platform and it's not going to be a 6.5 Creed or .260 Rem

I love the Bartlein, Rock and Krieger barrels I've used before and have had great results with Shillen in my semi-auto AR15s, but I'm wondering what the best process would be for getting either a rough contoured blank set up for an Armalite, or would it be easier to just have the barrel maker do a custom chamber on it?

I already know that the gas port will need to be positioned for the Armalite which I believe is 3/16th longer.

Any suggestions. It's a slight wild cat that I don't wanna let to many details out about, but should be great fun.

Simply put: buy a blank, buy a barrel extension, buy a reamer, and send it to your favorite (competent) gunsmith with instructions on what you want. You may want to call up Dave Kiff and have him help you with the reamer if it's some super secret wildcat.

Later this morning I will call Kevin Rayhill of Stockade Gunstocks about making a long range barrel for my Colt LE6920 M4. He built my long-range antelope rifle in 6mm Norma BR. that shoots less than 1/2" five shot groups at 200 yds. and less than 2" at 400 yds. He guarantees his ARs to shoot 1/2 MOA or less at 100 yds. and 300 yds. with reloads. The one he built for me was with a Brux barrel blank. He is known for being at the top for Savage bolt rifles for years.

Well I talked to Kevin Rayhill of Stockade Gunstocks this morning about the AR15s that he builds I asked him if he could build a barrel for my Colt LE6920 M4 and he said yes, but the price was more than I could justify. He builds barrels differently then I ever heard of before. He told me that he saves a lot of weight by putting an aluminum sleeve around the turned barrel without any loss of accuracy. If you are curious about his work and price give him a call.

This is a picture of the long-range Antelope rifle he built for me with the first 400 yd. target I quickly shot to see if I would even hit the paper with my custom turret.

We could make you the blank but I would call Paul Craddock at Craddock Precision. Ph: 309-242-7285.

I've seen his work and he does great work. I send guys his way for AR10 stuff and AR15 barrels that are out of the ordinary. Standard type AR15 barrels go to Compass Lake Engineering. Paul's prices as well as CLE are more than fair.

Just tell Paul what you want and what parts you have or don't have.
