Im just about done with my 30-06. It was my first, I was as cherry as anything when I got into it. Now I am lookig for a new flavor. This time I want it done a little diffrently. I was toying with the idea on doing a 6.5x47. Only thing that turned me off is how sensitive I see it can be with pressures. I like to shoot here in the summer and even the 06 gets a sticky bolt in july.
So all this I have been hearing about the creedmoor. The rifle will be a r700. I did some research and managed to cobble together this.
Pacnor bbl 1-8 22", millett mil/mil 4-16x50, egw base, burris rings, choate tactical stock. Pac-nor will fit the bbl to the action, I can do the bedding and fitting, tune remmy trigger.
I will shoot the factory match till I get enough brass, then all I need at that point is dies, probably Hornady, and start by duplicating their match stuff.
I know I left out the action. That will be a puchase of opportunity. When I see a deal come up I will jump on it.
All the parts will coume out to $1200 round and about. Figure 2-300 on the action.
My goal here is to have a durable rifle, dependable, and accurate. It may not be laser accurate, but 1000 yds capable, light recoil, easy to carry, good bbl life. Now these choices are not set in stone. Any recommendations or ideas are accepted. Other things like bipod, sling, bolt knob can come at a later date. Open to opinions fellas.
