Sendero Contour at 29"?

I need help, I've looked and looked. I'm wanting to rebarrel my Sendero. I bought a M40A1 stock with adj check piece as well. I'm wanting to stay with a contour very similar. I'm wanting this for a LR hunting rig. I'm thinking a 1-10 to shoot Berger 230gr OTM's, tight bore and a 29" then add a LB brake. I found out my 26" barrel is 25" from the recoil lug forward so if I had a 29" barrel 28" should stick out plus the brake. Bartlein has their Sendero at .830" at 26". Would it still continue to taper? Or would it sustain that .830? Or would there be a better taper for me? I really like the Sendero and remember its going to be packed around. I don't want another 20 pond rifle! Haha

I would think that the taper 2" forward of the .830 would be .825ish. I would not want any heavier contour than that. I have a 28" lothar walther 243 fast twist that balances quite nice, it is 1.060@breech and is .840"@ muzzle. What caliber,300 wm?

That LW barrel is on a single shot savage action, b&c medalist stock, looy 6.5-20 with BO rails and rings. I think it tips the scales at 12.5-13 ish lbs

The taper of Bartlein's Remington Varmint barrel is about 0.0055" per inch of barrel length, so it should be pretty easy to calculate the muzzle diameter if the barrel is extended by 2".

A medium Palma profile would be another solid choice.

Look at a Broughton 5c. I built a .300 win mag for the 230's with a 30" 1:10 Broughton Sendero contoured barrel. It is pushing them close to 3,000 fps with EASE

Bartlein will make you whatever contour you would like. I just ordered a Rem Varmint type contour but with customs specs and a gain twist. They'll make it happen...call Bartlein... Good guys....

Aimsmall, what is the weight on the rifle and could I see a picture of it? I really like Broughton barrels, they seem fast, but couldn't I get a tightbore in a Bartlein?

Sure. It's 17.5 #'s unloaded. I've got a Bushnell XRS on it which adds a lot of weight. The barrel is 30" ... 32" with the brake. I've actually pushed the 215 hybrid 3,052 fps with Retumbo. It's FAST.

Thanks! Looks good. I'm still thinking a tight bore 29" Broughton or Bartlein. 1-10 and defiantly Sendero contour. It should be .813 @ 29" plenty big for a hunting rig

My 30" Krieger Sendero is 0.835" at the muzzle.

Yeah I was told you can spec out the contour at any length. So essentially I can have .830@ 29"
