Hello, I currently own a 700 bdl dm in 7 mag and a friend of mine owns a sendero sf ii in 7 mag, he wants to trade me but I don't know of it is worth it, I will be using this gun for hunting,

All help is appreciated!!

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

I have a Sendero that was a 7mag and is reamed to 7mmSTW. I really like it. If you plan on switching stocks in the long run then I'd probably suggest getting a cheaper model but the one I have shoots great like it is. Although its fairly light for an STW and kicks like a mule, you don't feel it when you shoot something other than paper. Thinking about adding a brake.

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

I would more concerned how your friend's Sendero shoots and why he wants to trade. Is it a weight issue? I would be curious what the difference is. I used to have a 700 7mm mag wood stock ADL. It was light, but a hammer. I think I would have traded it for a stainless, fluted, HS precision stocked Sendero in the same chambering. The Remington DB system never interested me for hunting, but to some maybe.

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

700PSS systems are good rifles (parkerized). I'm not going to try to say they are better. Just trade for that Sendero, cerakoat it black and save money on fluting. You can also smile that you have a SS rifle no 700P needed.

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

yeah, he wants the BDL because it has a 24" barrel, and is lighter, plus he prefers the walnut stock, this is the older model that has the drop box so thats a plus one, he isnt a fan of synthetic stocks, also he's having a hard time finding a stainless scope that matches his gun, (weird).. I think im going to make the move on that sendero.. I was concerened about the weight factor myself though.. I will be doing alot of hunting with it and was worried about the weight.. also do you think 7mag is a better cartridge vs. 300? If I didnt take this rifle I was going to look into a 300 win. but I havent seen the need for it yet. I plan on going for elk, moose, and black bear this year.

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

I had a 300 mag in the 700 LSS model that I just got rid of because it kicked like a mule. plus, i wasnt a fan of the laminated stock, I am going to make that trade.. that sendero seems to blow that bdl away

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

To be honest, I picked up my 7mm mag in 1999 because it was a great deal, and I "thought" I wanted a light weight hunting rifle in a magnum cartridge. It was an older 700 with an older Leupold fixed 6x (very light rifle). I later stepped down to basically the same rifle chambered in a 270 Winchester and then sold everything and kept my .308. I think the majority of rifleman that may use the rifle other than just hunting would vote for the 300, but the 7mm is a very capable hunting round. There are some short action cartridges that are very popular as well, but if you can pick up a sendero, I think you will be happy to hunt with it.

Re: Sendero SF II or BDL?

I would grab it with my eyes closed.

I personally own a 300 Win Mag Sendero SF II and like everyone else posted shoots sub MOA with ease.

So I would not hesitate at all on doing the trade.
