Anyone have one and want to share their experience with it? I wanted to get a Spectre but couldnt justify the extra $200 when the SS mite does everything the spectre will do, except maybe some of the 5.56 videos Ive seen on youtube. I have a 7.62 Phantom and love it so I figured their 22 stuff is probably good to go. Plus it only cost me $250 transferred brand new

One question I do have though. I really wanted the brushed stainless model since its going on a Ruger SS MKIII and a Savage SS MKII, but he had the black one in stock and Im extremely impatient. Do you think I can strip the finish off and make it look like the brushed ones do from YHM? I called YHM he thought the finish etched in pretty deep and that I probably wouldnt get it to look as good as the non coated do.

Probably wont, if anything Ill send it to YHM and see what they can do, I would think you could just turn it down a few thou on a lathe and finish cut it, unless that coating really soaks in deep.

I have one and love it. I also have the Phantom for my AR. Surefire on my .308 Scalpel. I prefer dedicated cans.

The mite is a great bang for the buck and for .22s it's essential to be able to break down and clean it. The Mite allows for disassembly. Cleaning is a pain in the ass but important to clean after each use. Those .22 rounds are very dirty.

Also make sure you use a fair amount of anti-seize on the threads and make sure you break free the threads while it’s still hot. Otherwise it is much more difficult later.

The outside shell is very thin to begin with, so I would not dare shave off any material. As you said just call YHM and ask them for their input on the possibilities. I like the black finish and I don’t think I would ever want a shiny can any ways. I think the contrast of a SS pistol and black can would go great together. But I am shooting mine with a Walther P22 and I am getting a threaded barrel for my CZ Kadet. I do have a Ruger 22/45 bull barrel SS .22, but no plans with that yet. I think that would look good with a black silencer on the end.

Good luck. Brad

Re: Sent in paperwork for YHM Stainless Mite

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago and sent in the paper work the same day. I hope it comes quick. I checked around a bit about the quality and thought it was a pretty good deal for the sound supression. There are definatly more expensive ones out there but I think this one will do well. There is a web site that you can pay 30 bucks to see what supressors test out real well. I forget what it is but have seen it several times on here.

Yeah Ill probably just stick with the black, it will look good enough, after all its not a beauty contest. It will also go on a MP15-22 so itll look good on there for sure.

M21, do you have any good recipes for cleaning the baffles? I have a Ultrasonic cleaner, Im wondering how good a job that will do on it, it sure does a number on dirty brass thats for sure.

Re: Sent in paperwork for YHM Stainless Mite

Break the threads free while it's hot. It's best to disassemble it first after shooting so the condensation does not have time to corrode. I have been getting by with what YHM recommends. I soak it in some warm soap/water and use a brush on it. Then dry it completely and put a generous amount of anti-seize on the threads prior to assembly. I will tell you if you don't it will be very, very hard to take apart later. I learned this and to break the threads free while hot with the device YHM provides that makes it easier to take apart.

I have not tried an ultrasonic cleaner but I bet that could help.

Good luck and have fun with it. I am very happy with the Walter P22 and the YHM Mite and it is a great combination. My gf was not really interested in shooting pistols until I got this kit. She really likes shooting it now and begs me to take her. She does quite well with it and she used it for the range time while getting her concealed carry permit which she pursued on her own. The instructor was impressed to see a lady qualify with a suppressor on her pistol. Now getting her up to a .380 and 9mm is next. I guess I will have to get a can and threaded barrels for the Glock and Sig.

Re: Sent in paperwork for YHM Stainless Mite

Mine is the SS and Al model YHM-3340. For a pistol I wanted a lite weight model and this one only weighs 3 oz compared to the all SS model YHM-3350 at 7 oz. It's not really that hard to clean, but I recommend doing it after each use. Then it's not bad at all. Keep in mind .22s are pretty dirty and YHM recommends cleaning after each use, but the max is 1000 rnds.

I will probably get the all SS version model YHM-3350 for rifles when I acquire them. The extra weight won't matter and that model allows .22 Magnum.

Re: Sent in paperwork for YHM Stainless Mite

Cool, I wouldnt have minded an aluminum lightweight can, but I decided to go for an all around one instead for now. I figure the MKIII target is already heavy enough I wont notice another 7oz on it (probably not true, but with 3/4" cut off the barrel too that will help).
