separating barreled action from bedded stock

How easy is it to damage Marine-Tex bedding by disassembling a rifle? When doing trigger work you have to put it in and out several times - how do you know you aren't screwing things up?

And the proper procedure is to lift straight up - but what if you can't get it to move without a little gentle jiggling?

Mine dried as hard as a rock and I have taken them apart several times without any damage. However on M1A's they tell you not to do it unless you just have to do it!
Someone smarter then me should chime in soon and give a more detailed answer?

I put a rag around the barrel right near where the stock forearm ends and gave it a few good taps with a rubber mallet.
