The Finnish Army use it on their sniper-rifles, so I believe it is well tested.
Don´t understand why so many wants to put a rail on their guns when they don´t have to.
Near is probably verry god stuff, but when you put that rail on your gun there is one more thing that can get loose. Read Zak Smiths article where he compare AI vs TRG.
I think it is a god idea to minimize any potential problems in a gun like TRG 338 LM, that is being known for being hard on scopes and mounts .

Yes the Sako factory 3-ring mount is very good.
Running a rail enables the use of a 35mm scope body if the user wishes to.
It also makes the TRG receiver a "universal" set up where anyone can simply bolt on a scope mounted in rings to the rail.
Plus the Near rail specifically is very low profile and so solid it needs to be seated to the receiver by using the bolts that it comes with to pull the recoil lugs into the lug recess on top of the TRG receiver. By far THE best OPTION to using the factory Sako 3-ring mount.
