Hello everyone, I'm new here (as my post count shows) and I do not currently own any bolt action rifles.
I am looking for some help form the community to purchase my first bolt action. I am considering the Remington model 700 but I am unsure of what version.

My total budget for this setup is about $2200USD.

I want it in 308.

I really like these 2 but am open to suggestions:
Model 700™ SPS™ Tactical AAC®-SD™
Model 700™ SPS™ Tactical

I have no idea what is a good scope nor what is a good one to get for my price range. So i need some assistance in this area.

At this point my top priority is just acquiring the rifle and scope so I can shoot it. I will be back soon for some advice on accessories and suppressors.

-Shute

Ok thank you very much. I tried to search but with all of the content it was very hard to find what I was looking for.

Re: Setup help for a first timer.(R700)

Schute,

I recently bought a 700 SPS Tac AAC new paid $615 and then got a $40 rebate from Remington (good till the end of the year if I remember correctly)

I then bought a AICS here on the hide slightly used for $700

I then bought a set of nightforce rings here on the hide for $95

I then bought a nightforce rail from Cabellas for a little more than I should have paid but I had some giftcards that needed to be used and paid $135 for the rail

I then bought a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 scope slightly used here on the hide for about 1,500

This gets me to a shooting set up but I am still waiting on the mailman for some of the optical components (Rail and scope) and puts you a bit over budget but know that you can save a bit of $ if you shop used here on the Hide. You could keep pretty close to budget if you don't go with the AICS and/or if you step to a less expensive scope (either a NF without the zero stops and high speeds) or a nice Leupold MK4.

Bought through my FFL Mike at MK Arms in Clinton Township, Michigan. I have seen them for about that online though as well.

Here you go Shute:
-Remmy 700 SPS Tactical AAC SD ~$620 (as previously stated)
-Your choice of <span style="color: #3333FF">THESE</span> stocks(of the first 4 on the page) ~$230 Shipped
- <span style="color: #3333FF">THIS</span> scope ~$720 shipped
- <span style="color: #3333FF">THIS</span> scope base ~$70 shipped
- <span style="color: #3333FF">THESE</span> rings ~$85 shipped
- <span style="color: #3333FF">THIS</span> trigger (first one listed on the page) ~$150 shipped
-Then add 200 rounds of this <span style="color: #3333FF">AMMO</span> ~$200 shipped

Viola, $2075 and done if my math is right (even leaves you a little $$ for a bipod, stock pack and/or other accessories). This will get you into a very nice starter rifle which you can upgrade after you shoot the barrel out. Just my 2 cents worth.
