Hey folks, i saw a thread for SDW from like 6 years ago, but wanted to ask about some updated information from members here.

I live in New England and SDW is about a 3.5 hour drive for me. So i need to plan my visit out somewhat carefully and i had a couple of questions...

1. Do you need a LRF there, or are all targets at known (accurate) distances?
2. I'll be going as a visitor renting for like 3-4 hours, once you are booked, you can't be bumped for a competition scheduled last minute or anything like that?
3. Is there anything else i should know before booking and making the trek out there?

My current plan is to hit this place on like a Friday, then drive up to longrangeshots.com on the Saturday to work in some more skills at slightly further than 1000yds at longrangeshots.com

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I shoot there quite a bit for PRS comps. I would suggest a rangefinder because ranges are not marked and they have quite a good selection of targets out to 1000 yards.

It’s a great range run by a good group of people.

I’d also recommend moving this thread out of the PIT.

Secondarily, is it open beyond september? I tried to book in October and it wasn't available to select.

There are plausibly more-appropriate fora here: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/#advanced-marksmanship-unit.19
And "out of the pit" b/c my first reaction to your title was "He wants to visit with that big Anatolian warrior sheepdog that took out the pack of baby killing coyotes last year? Kinda fanboi but OK." :D I haven't lived upstate for sixty years so I don't have any idea about your real request.
