Only if it is being sold, if you are shipping to a smith for service, just go down to Brown and ship it to your smith. Rifles need to be packaged securely, declared to be a firearm, adult signature is required, and shipped from the HUB. Also no ammunition, kinda a given. If you have a copy of the smith's FFL cool, but UPS keeps an electronic record of FFL's on file, so there is a high likelihood its on record already. Below is a link to the UPS requirements, also, rifles don't have to go air, they can go ground unlike pistols.

By ATF's web site you can ship straight to someone in your state door to door. If you are selling or buying from out of state it must go to a FFL.
Like mentioned above if you are sending one in for repairs then you can ship it straight to the manufactor to be fixed. They must be taken to a UPS or FED EX HUB to shipped though.

Is there anything that needs to be shipping with the rifle? Wheres a good place to find a good box to ship said rifle?

I have had pretty good luck going to one of the big sports stores like Gander, Cabela's, bass Pro, and buy a el cheapo plano gun case for $20.00 bucks, and ask for the box it was shipped in. If that doesn't work, UPS has Golf Bag boxes that will fit a standard gun case. You buy two of them and tape them together. As for what goes in the box with your rifle, just instructions for the smith. In regard to shipping within the same state, no FFL required, thats a go on good intell.

Long guns can be shipped to a FFL by UPS/FedEx or USPS...for repair it can come directly back to you. Not a big deal..go to the BATF site an check it out...

Thanks for the help. So does the rifle have to ship in a gun case? Is there any reason it cant go directly into a box with bubble wrap?
