Hey all, I did a quick search and didnt find anything on here. I have the master alpha shooting chrony, took it to the range a couple days ago. My brother was chronographing his snub nose 357 when he shot one of the rods. We looked for 30 minutes to see if we could find it, and we failed. The thing must have taken off like Sputnik.

Anyways, I went to the mfgr website and saw you can buy replacement rods, but only from distributors. I cant seem to find anyone who sells them. Has anyone on here bought new rods and from who?

Thanks

I went down to the local machine shop (welding and fab shop) an they cut me off a little piece of stainless steel rod. Five bucks for two.

You are lucky that he just torched the rod, and not the whole unit...like my dad did to mine.

this.

the energy transference to the unit is much less when you hit a wooden dowel which means less damage to your unit.

Sure, "My brother", that's what they all say!!! It's ok you can tell us the truth.

+1 on the wooden dowels...buy a few extra

It is even worse when you have your 375 CT cranked up for 1,600 yards and, being a dumbass and forgetting that, you put a round through your Crony at 15' and cut the far side diffuser in half by perfectly hitting the edge!

I have an e-mail in to Chrony but in the meantime was able to take the ends and splice it together with plastic milk jug. Two layers of that is almost the perfect opacity for the job.

Just an FY if you get in a pinch. Oh, and don't be a dumbass like me.
