Rifle Scopes Shooting F-class this year, what scope?

Re: Shooting F-class this year, what scope?

What distance were you thinking of shooting? F-Class has midrange of 600 and long range of 1000 last I checked. I use an old loopy set to 14X for 600. It lacked some ability to burn through summer mirage at 1000. Most I competed with liked the variable NF running a max of 36X.

While trijicon seems to be unknown to many here I'd select it if I did alot of 1000 yard F-Class matches. Excellent glass and good mirage burn down in summer heat.

Anything above 36X will only be usable in the most ideal conditions. Depending on where you're located, during the Summer, mirage can get so bad that even 12-14X is a stretch.

Well I was using a 5-25 Schmidt Bender last year and was doing pretty well but I found I could use a little bit mor mag. As of now Im having 2 rifles built, a new F-TR and a new 284 for open. I will also be using those gay rests for the open gun but will still stick with the harris for thr F-TR gun. I got the hook up for the home made bullets plus some other cool stuff.

Hk the S&B sounds great until you find out it only has 15moa total windage adjustment i shoot F Class at the top level in Australia and that is not enough windage if they had at least 30 then you would be able to use it. honestly the best scope is the March you can use a 10-60X52 that is whai i am using 60moa elevation and around 45 windage and realy good optics. then the next choice would likley be a new 12-42NXs with 1/8moa adjustments you realy need the finer adjustments to make sure your elevation is spot on at extended ranges. now march is making their 10X scopes so they have a 10-60 and a 8-80 but they are a bit more than the 10-60 but also have 34mm tubes and are supposidly a little stronger.

Either way you want a scope that is variable preferably and magnification at least 40 power on the top end but at times you will have to wind back to 25 power if themirrage is to bad.

Hope i have helped out a bit.

Re: Shooting F-class this year, what scope?

If you can afford S&B or the March go for either and you wont be let down! I run a 284sheahane and a 260 -the 260 has a S&B 5x25 and the 284s has a Sightron 10 x50 power and I am well impressed with this scope .I was shooting 1 Kilometer today 80f and had it on 50 power the whole time , tracks very well and is clear .The Sightron has a target dot which is good but I would rather have a ranging reticle as I free shoot .If moneys no probs try the best !

Re: Shooting F-class this year, what scope?

I do a lot of F-class 600-1000yd stuff. Most guys stick with the NF 8-32 or 12-42. Down here in FL it gets so damn hot and humid that I don't hardly magnify past 25 most of the time so I run scopes in the 24 or 25 max range. I have a 32x scope and on ideal days, the 32x is great to have but I've not found it to be as big of an advantage as I feel it could be but that is just me personally. We shoot 8 and 9" steel at 1000 or we also do shoot n' see targets on paper. I've had no issues with being able to see see my hits with my 25x scopes compared to my 32x.

Re: Shooting F-class this year, what scope?

i have been running the sightron SIII 8-32 and couldn't be happier, it tracks great and the glass is as clear as the couple nightforces BR I looked through on the line but several hundred $ less. I t is plenty good for known distances, black on white target shooting. the question is, for F class are there better scope? probably yes, are they necessary?, not sure
Hope this helps the confusion
